James Bond Returns in New Spectre Trailer

Can we say that Daniel Craig incarnation of James Bond rivals Sean Connery’s at this point, or is that still considered blasphemy? Given that Skyfall (2012) is, at least until the release of Spectre, the most Spectrecomplete and entertaining Bond film ever produced, I wonder if we can’t mention the two actors in the same sentence without feeling the least bit guilty.

The new trailer for Spectre does very little to dissuade my enthusiasm for Craig and his Bond films (although Quantum of Solace (2008) was quite the follow-up to Casino Royale (2006) I was hoping for). The new film looks to continue the dark and menacing nature of these films, and I’m all for it; it’s a tone that works for Bond. Here’s hoping that the final film delivers the good that this trailer promises.

ABOUT THE FILM

SPECTRE: A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organization known as SPECTRE.

Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr. White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.

As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.

This film has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association of America.
