For the third week in a row, Aquaman remains perched atop the weekend box office. The film took in an additional $30.7 million, giving it a three-week total of $260 million and a worldwide total over $940 million, making it the highest grossing film worldwide in the DC Extended Universe.
Director Clint Eastwood’s latest, The Mule, took in just over $9 million in its fourth week of release, giving it a domestic total of approximately $81.1 million. Elsewhere, the Dick Cheney biopic Vice starring Christian Bale, fell from the sixth to the seventh spot with $5.8 million, giving it a two-week total of $29.8 million. The Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy Second Act took in $4.9 million in its third week, giving it a cumulative total of approximately $33 million. In its seventh week of release, the animated sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet, brought in $4.7 million, giving it a domestic total of $187.2 million.
Finally, the (ahem) comedy, Holmes and Watson, looks poised to vacate the top ten after only two weeks in release with a $3.4 million showing over the weekend giving it a grand total of $28.4 million and a tenth-place finish. Bowing out of the top ten this weekend was the Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, which managed to add another $2.4 million to raise its ten-week domestic total to approximately $193 million amidst a Golden Globe award for star Rami Malek over the weekend, which could mean even more business for the film in the coming weeks.
Looking forward, next weekend boasts a few new releases including the family-friendly A Dog’s Way Home; a dramedy of sorts starring Kevin Hart and Brian Cranston called The Upside; and the latest vehicle for Keanu Reeves, the sci-fi thriller Replicas.
