Box-Office Weekend: Argylle Repeats

Box Office Weekend

Finishing for a second consecutive week atop a fairly weak box-office weekend was Argylle, which finished ahead of second-place finisher Lisa Frankenstein by $2.7 million.

In its second week of release, Argylle took in $6.5 million for Universal Pictures International. While this was enough to claim first place this weekend, it only lifted the Universal Pictures International product’s overall total to $28.8 million. Meanwhile, Lisa Frankenstein debuted in second place earning Focus Features $3.8 million. Holding its ground and sticking in third place was The Beekeeper with $3.5 million. This brings the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film’s five-week tally to $54.7 million. Last weekend’s second-place finisher, the Fathom Event release, The Chosen: Season 4, Episodes 1-3, was dropped to fourth place this weekend where it added $3.2 million to lift its total to $12.6 million. Falling a spot to claim fifth place was Wonka with $3.1 million. The film now sports a five-week total of $205.3 million for Warner Bros. Studios.

Dropping out of the top five and claiming sixth place was Migration which, with $3.0 million this weekend, has made Universal Pictures $110.1 million over the last eight weeks. Holding its ground in seventh place was Anyone But You with $2.7 million. This gives the Columbia Pictures product an eight-week total of $80.1 million. Sliding down two spots to land in eighth-place was Mean Girls with $1.9 million. The film has now brought in a total of $69.2 million for Paramount Pictures. Losing only one spot since last weekend, American Fiction finished in ninth-place where it added $1.3 million to bring its overall nine-week total to $17.4 million for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Finally, Poor Things took in $1.1 million over the weekend, claiming tenth place after finishing in ninth last weekend. The film has now made $30.3 million for Searchlight Pictures over the last ten weeks.

Only one film was pushed out of the top ten this box-office weekend as Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom failed to make the cut after bringing in $122.3 million for Warner Bros. over the last eight weeks.
