This box-office weekend saw a swap of last weekend’s top two films as The Beekeeper got the best of Mean Girls by a mere $0.1 million to finish on top of the weekend box office top ten.
Skyrocketing four spots to land in sixth place this weekend with $3.0 million was Poor Things which, in its eighth week in release has brought in a total of $24.8 million for Searchlight Pictures. After missing the top ten last weekend, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s American Fiction landed in seventh place this weekend where it brought in $2.9 million, raising its seven-week total to $11.8 million. Falling two spots to land in eighth this weekend was Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom where it made $2.8 million. This gives the Warner Bros. product a six-week total of $118.1 million. In its ninth week of release, Godzilla Minus One managed to crack the top ten, finishing in ninth place with $2.6 million. This gives the film an overall total of $55.0 million. Lastly, The Boys in the Boat fell a spot to land in the tenth spot this weekend where it added $2.2 million, giving the film a five-week total of $47.5 million.
As happened last weekend, two films were again pushed out of the top ten as both I.S.S. and Night Swim failed to crack the weekend box-office. After two weeks in release, the Bleecker Street Media product – I.S.S. – couldn’t hold onto a spot in the top ten for a second consecutive weekend, but did manage to pull in $5.6 million overall. Finally, last weekend’s eighth-place film, Night Swim leaves the top ten after four weeks earning a total of $26.8 million for Universal Pictures International.
