Box-Office Weekend: “Black Adam” Stays On Top

For the second weekend in a row, Black Adam held the top spot of the box-office weekend by a significant margin, although this weekend it was only a difference of $17.7 million and not $50.7 million.

Dwayne Johnson and Black Adam managed to bring in $27.7 million over thew DC Extended Universe’s film’s second weekend in release. Even though the take was nearly $40 million less than last weekend, the film still took the top spot rather easily and raised its overall total to $111.1 million. Holding its ground in second place was Ticket to Paradise with $10.0 million in its second week of release. This gives the romantic comedy a total of $33.7 million. Debuting in third place was the horror film Prey for the Devil which managed to bring in $7.0 million over the last three days. This pushed the second horror film of the top ten, Smile, to fourth-place with $5.0 million. The film now boasts a five-week total of $92.4 million. Similarly falling a spot due to the debut of Prey for the Devil was Halloween Ends, which brought in $3.8 million over its third weekend in release to bring its overall total to $60.3 million.

Dropping from fifth to sixth place was the family-friendly Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile with $2.82 million. This gives the film a four-week total of $32.6 million. Making its debut in the top ten at number seven in its third weekend of release was Till with $2.81 million over the weekend. This brings the film’s overall total to $3.6 million. Dropping a spot to eighth place was the horror film Terrifier 2 which took in $1.8 million in its fourth weekend of release to brings its overall total to $7.6 million. Meanwhile, The Woman King dropped from sixth place to finish in ninth this weekend with $1.1 million. This gives the film a seven-week total of $64.6 million. Finally, Tár debuts in the top ten in its fourth weekend of release with $1.0 million. This gives the film an overall total of $2.5 million to date.

As happened last weekend, three films were again forced out of the box-office weekend top ten. Last weekend’s eighth-place film, Don’t Worry Darling, leaves after a six-week run that amassed $44.8 million. Amsterdam bows out of the top ten after last weekend’s ninth-place finish with a four-week total of $14.6 million. Finally, after one weekend in the top ten, Triangle of Sadness takes its four-week total of $2.3 million and vanishes.
