After two weeks atop the box-office weekend, Civil War was pushed from the number one spot (and then some) and replaced by Challengers which took first place by a margin of $7.2 million.
Losing two spots and dropping from fourth to sixth place this weekend was The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare where it brought in $3.9 million for Lionsgate Films, raising its two-week total to $15.4 million. Falling one spot to land in seventh place, Kung Fu Panda 4 took in $3.6 million for Universal Pictures to bring the film’s eight-week total to $185.0 million. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Releasing squeezed $3.3 million out of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire during its ninth weekend of release to raise its overall total to $107.4 million. With a nine-week total of $279.7 million, Dune: Part Two also dropped a spot to finish in ninth-place where it added $2.0 million over the weekend for Warner Brothers. Finally, the third debut of the weekend, Boy Kills World claimed the tenth spot of the weekend box office with $1.7 million.
Three films were pushed out of the top ten during this box-office weekend. After debuting in fifth place last weekend, Crunchyroll’s Spy x Family Code: White could not crack the top ten again this week, instead settling for a two-week total of $7.1 million. Meanwhile, the Universal Pictures product Monkey Man lost it’s hold on ninth place as it dropped from the top ten with a four-week tally of $23.9 million. Finally, after four weeks in release, last weekend’s tenth-place film, The First Omen dropped out of the top ten after bringing in $19.2 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
