After two weeks atop the box office, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was bested by newcomer Civil War by $10.2 million to lose the box-office weekend crown.

In its first weekend of release, the A24 action/thriller Civil War from director Alex Garland debuted in first place with $25.7 million. This pushed two-time champion Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to second place where it brought in $15.5 million for Warner Bros.. This gives the film a three-week total of $157.9 million. Meanwhile, GhostbustersL Frozen Empire held its ground to remain in third place where it added $5.8 million for Sone Pictures Releasing to lift its four-week total to $97.0 million. Climbing a spot from last weekend to land in fourth place was Kung Fun Panda 4 which took in $5.5 million to bring its six-week total to $173.7 million for Universal Pictures. Also climbing a spot from last weekend was Dune: Part Two which took fifth place with $4.3 million. This gives the Warner Bros. offering a seven-week total of $272.1 million.

Dropping four spots to land in sixth place where it added $4.1 million was Universal Pictures’ Monkey Man, which not sports a two-week total of $17.8 million. Also dropping four spots was The First Omen which landed in seventh place with $3.8 million this weekend. This gives the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures product a two-week tally of $14.6 million. Closing out the top ten this weekend were three new releases as The Long Game took eighth place with $1.4 million, narrowly beating out the re-release of Shrek 2 which landed in ninth place with $1.35 million. Finally, the concert film SUGA | Agust D TOUR “D-DAY” THE MOVIE finished in tenth-place over the weekend where it brought in $990,881 for Trafalgar Releasing.

Another four films were pushed out of the top ten this box-office weekend as films in slots seven through ten were all displaced. After bringing in $4.9 million over the last two weeks, the Fathom Event Someone Like You dropped out of this weekend’s top ten. After netting Sony Pictures Releasing $2.8 million during the last three weeks, Wicked Little Letters couldn’t crack the top ten this weekend. Meanwhile, Arthur the King failed to fetch another week in the top ten and, instead, settled for a five-week total of $23.6 million for Lionsgate Films. Finally, after a four-week run, Immaculate leaves the top ten $15.3 million richer than when it entered.
