It took a team of dinosaurs to dislodge Tom Cruise from the top of the box-office weekend, but Jurassic World Dominion did just that, beating Top Gun: Maverick by $93.4 million.
Downton Abbey: A New Era similarly fell a spot to sixth with $1.7 million. That film now has a four-week total of $40.0 million. Also slipping a spot was Everything Everywhere All at Once which finished in seventh place with $1.3 million over the weekend. This raised the film’s twelve-week total to $63.0 million. Climbing back into the top ten after a brief absence was the remake of Firestarter with landed in eighth place with $820,000. This now gives the horror film a five-week total of $9.3 million. Falling one spot to finish in the penultimate spot this weekend was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 which added $710,000 to raise its ten-week tally to $189.8 million. Finally, the comedy Ante Sundharaniki brought in $620,000 in its first weekend of release to land firmly in the tenth spot of this weekend’s top ten.
Three films fell from the box-office weekend top ten this week. The surprise debut in seventh-place last weekend, Vikram was nowhere to be seen this weekend. While Sandra Bullock and The Lost City departed the top ten after amassing $104.9 million over the last twelve weeks. Lastly, David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future leaves the top ten in its second week of release with a $2.0 million total over that span.
