Marvel Studios obliterated all others to take control of the box-office weekend as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness debuted in the top spot, besting the second-place film by an astonishing $175.2 million.
Dropping from fourth to sixth place was director Robert Eggers’ The Northman which earned $2.8 million in its third weekend of release, lifting its total to $28 million. Similarly falling one spot to land in seventh place was The Lost City as the Sandra Bullock vehicle took in $2.5 million in its seventh weekend, to raise its total gross to $94.4 million. In its third weekend of release, the Nicolas Cage film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent made $1.5 million and finished in the eighth spot of the top ten. This gives the film a total of $16.4 million. Last weekend’s eighth-place finisher, the Liam Neeson vehicle Memory finish in ninth place with $1.2 million to give it a two-week total of $5.5 million. Finally, Father Stu fell to the tenth spot with $800,000 over the weekend. This gives the film a four-week total of $19.2 million.
For the second week in a row, only one film was ousted from the box-office weekend top ten. This weekend, Morbius dropped from the list after amassing merely $71.9 million in its first six weeks of release.
