For the second week in a row, a new film sits atop the box-office weekend top ten as The Exorcist: Believer claimed the number one spot by a $15.4 million margin.
Another film not gaining or losing any ground was A Haunting in Venice which remained in sixth place this weekend where it added $2.7 million, to bring its four-week total to $35.7 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Falling three spots to finish in seventh-place this weekend was The Nun II where its added $2.6 million, giving the Warner Bros. product a five-week total of $81.1 million. Meanwhile, this pushed Dumb Money down a spot to an eighth-place finish with $2.2 million for the Sony Pictures Entertainment film. This brings its four-week total to $10.6 million. The Equalizer 3 also fell a spot, finishing in ninth-place with $1.8 million in its sixth-weekend in release, giving the Columbia Pictures product a cumulative total of $88.8 million. Finally, debuting in the tenth spit of this weekend’s top ten was the re-release of the 30th Anniversary edition of Hocus Pocus which managed to bring in $1.5 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, to lift its overall total to $46 million.
Two films were pushed out of the top ten this box-office weekend as both last week’s ninth- and tenth-place films failed to make the cut this weekend. After three weeks in release, Expend4bles leaves the top ten after making a total of $15.4 million for Lionsgate. Meanwhile, the most popular film of the year, Barbie, leaves the top ten after amassing $634.3 million over twelve weeks for Warner Brothers.
