The horror film It topped the box office again this week with $60 million. The two-week total for the film fell just short of $220 million but has established the Stephen King adaptation as the highest grossing September release of all time. In a distant second-place was American Assassin with $14.8 million in its first week of release.
The successful six-week run for Annabelle: Creation continued as the horror film took in $2.6 million to raise its total to $99.9 million (nearly breaching the $100 million plateau and becoming the only August 2017 release to do so). Meanwhile, the well-reviewed Wind River brought in $2.6 million raising its seven-week total to $29.1 million. The animated film Leap! Brought its four-week total to $18.7 million with an additional $2.1 million this weekend. While Spider-Man: Homecoming continued to stick around in the top ten with $1.9 million, which brought its eleven-week total to $330.3 million. Finally, Dunkirk looks poised to fall out of the top ten in the coming weeks as it fell to tenth with $1.3 million (though it is still critically beloved and has made $185.1 million over the past nine weeks).
