A new title has claimed the top spot of the box-office weekend top ten as Barbie finished ahead of the second-place film by a $74 million margin.
Finishing three places lower than last weekend, Insidious: The Red Door brought in $6.5 million to bring its three-week total to $71 million. Dropping two spots to seventh place was Elemental which added $5.8 million over the weekend to raise its six-week total to $137 million. Also losing two spots this weekend was Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse which finished in eighth place with $2.8 million. Still, the film sports an eight-week total of $375 million, so the web-crawler is probably not losing too much sleep over the drop in the top ten. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts claimed the ninth spot with $1.12 million after finishing in seventh-place last weekend. This gives the film a seven-week total of $156 million. Finally, No Hard Feelings landed in tenth place with $1.10 million over the weekend after claiming eighth-place last weekend. This gives the film a five-week total of $49 million.
Lastly, two films were dislodged from the weekend box office top ten this week. After three weeks and earning a total of $12.5 million, Joy Ride departs the top ten after claiming ninth place last weekend. Last week’s tenth-place film, The Little Mermaid was also pushed from the top ten, but still sports a nine-week tally of $296.1 million.
