Box-Office Weekend—Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Takes Over Box Office

With an estimated $36 million in its third week of release, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle topped the box-office weekend. This gives the film a three-week total of $244.4 million. Debuting in second-place this week is the latest entry on the “Insidious” horror series, Insidious: The Last Key, which took in $29.3 million.

Finishing in third-place with $23.6 million was Star Wars: Episode VIII—The Last Jedi. This raises The Last Jedi’s four-week domestic total to $575.5 million, where it firmly stands as the sixth largest domestic release of all time.

The Greatest Showman finished its third week of release in fourth place, earning $13.8 million over the weekend to raise its domestic total $75.9 million. Just behind the Hugh Jackman musical were the Barden Bellas with $10.2 million for Pitch Perfect 3 (which has brought in $86 million during its first three weeks).

The animated feature Ferdinand finished its fourth week of release in sixth place with an estimated $7.7 million over the weekend. Molly’s Game expanded to an additional 1,300+ screens this weekend, which helped it finish in seventh place with $47.0 million. Right behind the Jessica Chastain film was the Gary Oldman starring as Winston Churchill drama Darkest Hour. The film finished its seventh week adding $6.4 million to its $28.4 million total.

Closing out the top ten were the animated family film Coco, which brought in $5.5 million to bring its seven-week total to $192.1 million. Finally, in the tenth spot, was the Ridley Scott directed account of the John Paul Getty II kidnapping, All the Money in the World, which brought in $3.6 million to raise its two-week total to $20.1 million.
