The brothers Mario held onto the top spot of the box-office weekend by a wide margin as The Super Mario Bros. Movie bested the second-place film by $77.8 million this weekend.
Sinking three spots to land in sixth place was Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with $7.4 million. This gives the film a three-week total of $74.1 million. Meanwhile, Mafia Mama debuted in seventh place with $2.0 million over the weekend. All of this activity forced Scream VI to an eight-place finish with $1.5 million, after landing in fifth place last weekend. This gives the film an overall six-week total of $106.8 million. The fourth debut of the weekend, Nefarious managed $1.3 million over the last three days, which was enough to claim the ninth spot of the weekend. Finally, after a sixth-place finish last weekend, His Only Son fell to tenth with $519,000 over thew weekend; giving the film a three-week total of $12.1 million.
Four films were forced from the top ten over the past three days as Creed III, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Paint, and A Thousand and One all departed the weekend box-office top ten. Creed III leaves with $154.2 million taken in over six weeks. Meanwhile, Shazam! Fury of the Gods departs with only $57.2 million garnered over four weeks. Paint dried up after only one week, bringing in $750,000. Finally, after earning $3.3 million, A Thousand and One takes leave of the top ten after three weeks.
