After finishing atop the box-office weekend for the last three weeks, The Nun II failed to stave off the onslaught of new releases over the weekend, and seceded the number one spot to new release PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie by a margin of $5.9 million.
In its third weekend, A Haunting in Venice fell three spots to finish in sixth place this weekend, where it added $3.8 million, to raise the film’s three-week total to $31.6 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Dropping a single spot to land in seventh place was Dumb Money which brought in $3.5 million for Sony Pictures Entertainment, giving the film a three-week total of $7.3 million. Dropping from fourth to eighth-place over the weekend was The Equalizer 3, which finished the weekend with $2.7 million to lift its five-week tally to $85.9 million for Columbia Pictures. Plummeting all the way from a second-place finish last weekend to ninth-place this weekend, was the Lionsgate offering Expend4bles with $2.5 million in its second weekend of release. The film now claims an overall total of $13.3 million. Finally, falling five spots to finish in tenth place over the weekend was juggernaut Barbie which brought in $1.4 million for Warner Bros. to raise the film’s overall total to $633.1 million.
Four films were forced from the top ten this weekend as there was a big shakeup for the second consecutive week. After finishing in sixth place last weekend, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 failed to crack the top ten this weekend, departing with a four-week total of $26.4 million for the Focus Features product. In its second weekend of release, NEON’s It Lives Inside didn’t make the cut and leaves the top ten with an overall total of $4.3 million after claiming seventh place last weekend. After finishing in ninth place last week, Blue Beetle bowed out of this weekend’s list but still sports a seven-week total of $71.0 million for Warner Bros., so all is not lost. After eleven weeks, the Universal Pictures release, Oppenheimer has amassed an overall total of $322.5 million, despite failing to make the top ten this weekend.
