Box-Office Weekend: Scream VI Beats Creed III

Box Office Weekend

For the second weekend in a row, a new film sits atop the box-office weekend as Scream VI debuted with a showing $27.3 million higher than the film in second place.

Over its debut weekend, Scream VI managed to earn $54.5 million, easily besting second-place Creed III which brought in $27.2 million in its second weekend. Despite the fall, it was far from a knock out for the film as it has still made $101.4 million in its first two weeks of release. Debuting in third place was 65 with $12.3 million over the weekend. All of this pushed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania down two spots to a fourth-place finish with $7.0 million. Still, the film has made $198.0 million over its first four weeks in release. Falling to fifth place was Cocaine Bear which added $6.2 million over the weekend to raise its three-week total to $51.7 million.

Dropping one spot was Jesus Revolution which finished in sixth place with $5.17 million over the weekend, giving it a three-week total of $39.5 million. This was just enough to best seventh-place debut Champions which brought in $5.15 million in its opening weekend. Meanwhile, Avatar: The Way of Water dropped two spots to finish in eighth-place with $2.7 million over the weekend. The film now sports a thirteen-week total of $674.7 million. Falling a spot to finish in ninth-place, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish added $1.7 million this weekend to raise its twelve-week total to $179.6 million. Finally, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre dropped three spots to tenth over the weekend with $1.3 million, giving the film a two-week total of $5.6 million.

Again, three films were ushered out of the top ten this weekend. After just one week, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village took leave of the weekend box office after bringing in $10.1 million in its first week of release. After four weeks, Magic Mike’s Last Dance departed the top ten with a total of $25.3 million. Finally, after six weeks, 80 for Brady drops out of the top ten with an overall take away of $39.1 million.
