For the second consecutive week, Shazam! held on tightly to the top spot on the Box-Office Weekend leaderboard. This week, the film’s second in release, the latest film in the DC Extended Universe, added $25.1 million to give it a two-week total of $94.9 million. The Zachary Levi-led film continues to perform will internationally as well, adding $35.9 million to give it a global two-week total of approximately $258.8 million.
Just outside of the top five, in sixth place, is Captain Marvel, which finished its sixth week of release bringing in $8.6 million over the weekend to lift its ultimate tally to $386.5 million. Jordan Peele’s horror film Us, added $6.9 million in its fourth week of release to land it in seventh place and bring its grand total to $163.5 million.
The romantic drama After, debuted in the eighth spot of our top ten with $6.2 million in its first week of release. Finishing just behind it with $5.8 million was the animated comedy Missing Link, which also debuted this week.
Finally, the Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell starring drama The Best of Enemies, took in $2 million in its second week of release, falling from the sixth spot to the final spot on our list, giving it a two-week total of $8.1 million.
Leaving the top ten this week are: Five Feet Apart, Unplanned, Wonder Park, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Next week will see the release of the “inspirational” Breakthrough from Fox and the Disneynature documentary Penguins, both of which line up to be in direct competition with the horror film The Curse of La Llorona.
