For the second week in a row, Sonic the Hedgehog held the top spot over the box-office weekend. The film added $26.3 million this weekend to give it a two-week tally of $106.6 million. Even though it took the number one spot over the weekend, it was not as dominant a finish as it enjoyed last weekend as it only out earned the second place film by $1.5 million.
The horror film, Brahms: The Boy II, debuted this weekend in fourth place with $5.9 million. The critically acclaimed film, 1917, held firm in the sixth position with $4.4 million. This gives the film a nine-week total of $152 million. Dropping drastically from third place last to seventh this weekend was the horror film reimagining of Fantasy Island. The film took in $4.2 million over the weekend to give it a disappointing two-week total of $20.2 million.
Still basking in its post-Oscar glow, Best Picture winner Parasite stood firm in eighth place as it added another $3.1 million to give it a twenty-week tally of $48.9 million. Dropping two spots from seventh to ninth, earning $3 million over the weekend was Jumanji: The Next Level. This film can now boast an eleven-week total of $311 million. Finally, plummeting from the fourth spot last weekend to the tenth this weekend was the film The Photograph which added $2.8 million over the weekend to give the film an unimpressive two-week total of $17.6 million.
Only two films departed the top ten over the weekend. Dolittle took in $1.9 million over the weekend and bows out of the top ten with a six-week total of $74.5 million. Meanwhile, Downhill managed only $1.4 million in its second week of release and departs the top ten after earning only $7.4 million total.
