Once again, a new film adorns the top of the box-office weekend as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse finished almost $80 million ahead of The Little Mermaid.
Falling two spots to land in sixth place was The Super Mario Bros. Movie as it brought in $3.4 million over the weekend to bring its nine-week total to $566.3 million. This pushed About My Father down a spot to seventh place, where it added $2.1 million over the weekend to brings its two-week total to $8.8 million. The Machine dropped three spots to finish in eighth-place over the weekend with $1.8 million. This gives the film an overall total of $8.7 million for its first two weeks in release. Losing one spot and finishing in ninth-place was You Hurt My Feelings with $770,000 in its second week of release. The film now claims an overall total of $3.0 million. Finally, after landing in seventh place last weekend, Kandahar fell to the tenth spot with $765,000 to bring its two-week total to $4.2 million.
Only two films were forced from the box-office top ten this weekend as last weekend’s ninth- and tenth-place films were both displaced. After seven weeks, Evil Dead Rise departed the list with a total of $67 million to date. Meanwhile, after only four weeks in release and an overall total of $17.1 million, Book Club: The Next Chapter similarly failed to renew a stay in top ten.
