A new film stands atop the box-office weekend as The Woman King debuted at number one, displacing last weekend’s top film, Barbarian and sending it to second-place by a margin of $12.7 million.
This activity managed to push Top Gun: Maverick from the top five and into sixth place where it added $2.18 million over the weekend. This brings the film’s seventeen-week total to $709.1 million. Similarly, DC League of Super-Pets dropped from fifth to seventh-place over the weekend with $2.17 million. This gives the animated film a grand total of $87.9 million. Falling two spots to finish in eighth place over the weekend was The Invitation as the film managed to add $1.7 million during its fourth weekend in release to brings its total to $21.5 million. Holding steady in the ninth spot was the animated sequel Minions: The Rise of Gru, which added $1.3 million over the weekend. This gives the film a twelve-week total of $364.1 million. Finally, debuting in tenth-place over the weekend was Moonage Daydream with $1.2 million in its first weekend of release.
As happened last weekend, multiple films were thrust from the top ten. After finishing in second-place last weekend, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva left the top ten altogether with a grand total of $6.7 million to show for its work. Similarly, last week’s seventh-place film, Lifemark, departs the top ten with a two-week tally of $3.6 million. Meanwhile, after five weeks, Beast takes leave of the top ten with a total of $30.8 million. Finally, the re-release of Spider-Man: No Way Home added a total of $9.2 million to the film’s overall take as it too departs the top ten in its third week back in theaters.
