For the third week in a row, Disney and Pixar’s Coco held onto the top spot at the box office. Earning an estimated $18.3 million, the animated hit finished with almost twice the box office of second-place finisher Justice League, which itself brought in $9.6 million. In just three weeks, Coco has earned $135.5 million domestically. However, it’s run at the top likely comes to an end this week when Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens.
Daddy’s Home 2 brought in $6 million (which is $1.5 million than last week), which dropped it out of the top five to sixth place. Elsewhere, settling in at the seventh-place station is the mystery Murder on the Orient Express, which brought in $5.1 million to raise its five-week total to $92.7 million. The other animated film on our list, the holiday-themed The Star climbed from the ninth spot to land in eighth place with $3.7 million.
The indie darling, Lady Bird fell a few spots to ninth place with $3.5 million (and an impressive six-week total accumulation of $22.3 million). Despite more optimistic projections, Just Getting Started opened with $3.2 million in its first week, which was good enough to hold onto the tenth spot, though that hold will more than likely prove tenuous open the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi this coming week.
