A new film adorns the top of the box-office weekend as Twisters debuted $56.7 million ahead of the second-place film, last week’s top film Despicable Me 4.
Also dropping a spot was the Columbia Pictures product Fly Me to the Moon, which finished in sixth place this weekend with $3.3 million, bringing its overall two-week total to $16.4 million. Bad Boys: Ride or Die fell from sixth to seventh place where it made $2.7 million for Sony Pictures Releasing in its seventh week of release to raise its total to $189.3 million for the studio. The second debut of the weekend, Bad Newz claimed eighth place with $1.1 million to show for its first weekend in release. Meanwhile, A24’s MaXXXine fell a spot to ninth place where it added $819,242 over the weekend, raising its three-week total to $13.9 million. Lastly, after dropping out of the top ten last weekend, The Bikeriders crept back into this week’s box-office weekend with $701,000, bringing the Focus Features film’s five-week total to $21.2 million.
As happened last week, three films were again pushed out of the top ten weekend box office. After finishing in seventh place last weekend, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 couldn’t crack the top ten this weekend, instead settling for a four-week total of $28.5 million for Warner Brothers. Angel Studios’ Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot failed to retain its spot after finishing in ninth place last weekend. Still, the film brought in $11.1 million for the studio during the last three weeks. Finally, the 2024 re-release of The Lion King brought in a total of $1.9 million over the last two weeks for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures after making its debut in the top ten last weekend.
