Movie Review: Ice Age: Continental Drift

When certain films are released, mostly those of kid-centric variety, many of us critics tend to forget that we are not necessarily the film’s target audience. So, we here at CinemaNerdz decided we needed to represent the critical viewpoint of a true member of the movie’s intended demographic. Thus, we turn the reins over to Miranda Clarke, age 9, as she shares with us her views on the film “Ice Age: Continental Drift.”

Ice Age: Continental Drift is a really good and funny movie. It is about the continent that the animals live on cracking and breaking apart. Which leaves Manny (voiced by Ray Romano), Diego (voiced by Denis Leary), and Sid (voiced by John Leguizamo) stuck on an iceberg floating in the ocean and everyone else on the cracking continent which is breaking more with walls falling down around everyone. Manny, Diego and Sid try to make it back to their families.

The 3D was amazing. Everything was in 3D. It wasn’t just like a little 3D here and there. It was everywhere! The 3D was so good I felt like I was in the movie!

All the voices were really good. They had a lot of well played emotions in the voices. I love how your emotions were popping! You were shocked, then happy, then scared, then sad, and back again. Sometimes I had to let my emotions go – I couldn’t help but smile and laugh or be scared!

My favorite characters are Peaches, Sid, and Shira. Peaches (voiced by Keke Palmer) is very daring and just wants to have fun with her friends! Sid is a crazy, weird character that is always doing out of the ordinary things. Shira (voiced by Jennifer Lopez) is the First Mate of a pirate crew that finds Manny, Diego, and Sid on their journey. Shira is strong and it is cool that she is First Mate.

Some characters are funny because they act stupid. Crash and Eddie (voices of Seann William Scott and Josh Peck) are two characters that are “cousins” of Peaches. They are always fooling around. One thing that they did that was really funny was when they went on a tree and waited for the wall that was coming to push the tree back and fling them forward causing them to fly.

I like that there are a lot of lessons that the characters learn along their journey. They learn that family is family forever. This is a good lesson because even though you get in fights with your family and you might think that your family doesn’t want you they do want you. They care about you and love you. The characters also learn that friends have bad days, but in the end if your friend is a true friend, you will be friends again.

I also loved the credits for Ice Age: Continental Drift because they were super funny, but also because they were really cool to watch. They were the best credits ever. You should make sure you stay for the credits!
