A new film claimed the top spot of the box-office weekend top ten as Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom finished $10.4 million ahead of the second-place film in the three days prior to the Christmas holiday.
Debuting in sixth place with $5.1 million was the A24 product The Iron Claw. Meanwhile, The Boy and the Heron fell from third to seventh where it added $3.154 million in its third week of release, bringing its total to $30.6 million for GKIDS. This was just enough to best The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes which brought in just $3.150 million, dropping it six spots to finish in eighth place. Still the film sports a six-week total of $149.3 million for Lionsgate Films. Falling five places to land in ninth was Godzilla Minus One with $2.7 million, giving the film a four-week tally of $40.4 million. Finally, after claiming ninth place last weekend, Poor Things fell to tenth place where it added $2.1 million for Searchlight Pictures, bringing its three-week total to $5.1 million.
This weekend saw a major shakeup as five films from last week’s list left the top ten. After six weeks, Trolls Band Together departs with an overall total of $93.0 million. Wish also failed to make the top ten this weekend, but does leave with a five-week tally of $57.5 million. Meanwhile, after five weeks in release, Napoleon vacates the box-office battleground $59.2 million richer. After three weeks in release, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé drops from the top ten after bringing in a total of $31.9 million. Finally, following three weeks in release, The Shift is pushed from the top ten with a final total of $11.3 million.
