The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, "Thor: Love and Thunder" debuted atop the box-office weekend, beating the second-place film by nearly $100 million.

"Top Gun: Maverick" stood no chance against the debut of "Minions: The Rise of Gru" as the sequel beat it by $92.2 million to win the box-office weekend.

After ceding the top spot to "Jurassic World Dominion" for the last two weeks, "Top Gun: Maverick" bested "Elvis" to claim the top of the box-office weekend.
