Every generation needs a voice, and Universal Pictures is hoping that this particular voice can bridge the generation gap. Jem and the Holograms – Jem, Kimber, Aja, and Shana – are back in a new film called simply Jem and the Holograms. The new trailer has been released
and it looks like it could be a fairly entertaining interpretation of the animated series. But, judge for yourself.

Fairly entertaining? The suckage level of this trailer reeks of a sinister plot to cause Jem fans a massive coronary.

Well, I meant fairly entertaining given the current over-saturated world of angst-ridden teenage coming-of-age, finding-one’s-self stories we are currently subjected to.

Huge disappointment. There are no holograms, no misfits, no amazing music! This waste of time is the equivalent of making a Jurassic Park but instead of having real dinosaurs in the story of the movie, the plot is based around fossils at a museum. How would you feel if they made a transformers movie where the vehicles didn’t transform? If you strip away the elements and magic of what made Jem a unique show then you are left with this atrocious excuse to market the Jem name into a generic teen made for tv drama.

In my opinion the original Jem show was awful, but even I think this movie is a repugnant disgrace to the source material. And even if you put that issue aside entirely, this movie still looks like a godawful, mind-rotting piece of garbage in its own right.

Looks like total crap.
