For a fourth consecutive weekend, Avatar: Fire and Ash fought off newcomers to hold onto the top spot of the box-office weekend top ten – doing so this weekend by a margin of $10 million.
Avatar: Fire and Ash remained the top film of the box-office weekend top ten as it held onto first place in its fourth weekend of release by a margin of $10 million as it brought in $21.3 million over the weekend. This brings the film’s four-week total to $342.6 million for 20th Century Studios. Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures International enjoyed a second-place debut for Primate which made $11.3 million over the weekend, which was enough to surpass The Housemaid which took in $11.2 million for Lionsgate in its fourth weekend of release, bringing its overall total to $94.2 million as the film remained locked in at the third spot of the top ten. This pushed last weekend’s second-place film, Zootopia 2, to fourth place where it added $10.1 million over the weekend to lift its seven-week total to $378.8 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Lionsgate also enjoyed a fifth-place debut for Greenland 2: Migration as the film brought in $8.5 million for the studio over the weekend.
In its fourth week of release, the A24 product, Marty Supreme fell from fourth to sixth place where it took in $7.6 million to brings its overall total to $70.1 million for the studio. Similarly, Sony Pictures Releasing saw Anaconda finish in seventh place with $5.1 million after a fifth-place finish just seven days earlier. The film now claims a three-week total of $54.3 million. Falling two spots, to land in eighth place, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants made $3.8 million for Paramount Pictures International in its fourth weekend of release, bringing its overall total to $63.6 million. The Angel release of David dropped from seventh to ninth this weekend as it brought in $3.1 million, giving it a four-week total of $75.2 million. Finally, after claiming eighth place last weekend, the Focus Features release of Song Sung Blue landed in tenth place this weekend with $2.9 million as the film lifted its three-week total to $31.1 million for the studio.
Unlike last weekend, two films – both Universal Pictures releases – were pushed out of the top ten this weekend as the ninth- and tenth-place films from seven days ago both failed to make this weekend’s list. After eight weeks in release and amassing a total of $341.8 million, Wicked: For Good dropped out of the top ten this weekend, following a ninth-place finish last weekend. Similarly, after finishing in tenth place last weekend and bringing in $126.9 million over the last six weeks for the studio, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 also couldn’t crack the top ten one last time.
