A Kid Film Critic Reviews Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
What We Liked
What We Didn't Like
I thought Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was okay. There were some good parts and some bad parts. The movie starts off with Alexander Cooper (Ed Oxenbould) having a very bad day. Then he makes a birthday wish that puts a curse on his family’s day (typical Disney movie). So the next day they are running late and nothing is going right. His family’s bad day goes on for over half the movie.
I thought sometimes the movie went too far. Like when Emily Cooper (Kerris Dorsey) throws up three times in the movie. How much throw up do we really need to see? I certainly don’t want to see any throw up. I think sometimes the movie wasn’t funny – it was outright stupid. Like when Anthony Cooper (Dylan Minnette) is taking his driver’s test and the test person tells him to pick up his phone. Then she yells at him to put it down. That didn’t make sense to me. Although the grownups in the theater were laughing at most parts, the funniest part of the movie was that my dad was laughing so much he couldn’t breathe. At some parts the kids and teens were laughing too. I laughed a few times too. This might be a good movie for families, but the humor is more geared toward adults
My Favorite characters are Baby Trevor and Becky Gibson. I like Baby Trevor (Elise and Zoey Vargas) because he is cute and funny. Like when he started eating a permanent marker and made his face green. He made me wish I had a little brother. Baby Trevor was adorable and he stole the show. I also like Becky (Sidney Fullmer) because although she had a small part in the movie she is sweet and reminds me a little bit of myself. She is shy and kind. Becky is the most realistic character in this crazy movie.
Another couple of characters I would like to mention are the dad, Ben Cooper, and Celia. Steve Carell plays the role Ben Cooper. He is a good actor, but I don’t like the character he plays. Ben Cooper acts like an idiot. Although, I did like that Ben worried about his family and put them first. Also, I would like to mention Celia (Bella Thorne) because I like Bella Thorne as an actor. I thought her character was a jerk and a brat. Bella Thorne did a good job playing Celia. I think it can be hard to play characters like Celia.
One thing I did like about this movie is the message that the bad days will make your good days even better. Your family is here for you through the good and the bad.
I didn’t hate Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, but I think you should save your money. If you’re having a bad day this movie will make your day seem better. But, personally, I thought this movie was gross and stupid with very few highlights.
