Box-Office Weekend: Novocaine Takes Over a Numb Box Office
This week saw a new film debut atop the box-office weekend as Novocaine debuted as the number one film of the weekend, pushing last week’s top film, Mickey 17 to second place by the slim margin of $1.19 million.
Paramount Pictures International saw its latest release, Novocaine, debut atop the box-office weekend top ten with a total of $8.7 million to show for its opening weekend. This proved to be just enough to nudge last weekend’s top film, Mickey 17 to second place as it made $7.51 million in its second weekend of release, giving the Warner Bros. product an overall total of $33.3 million. Meanwhile, Black Bag debuted in third place over the weekend, bringing in $7.5 million for Focus Features. These two aforementioned debuts helped push Captain America: Brave New World down two spots to a fourth-place finish this weekend, where it made $5.5 million over the last three days. The Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures product has now amassed a five-week total of $185.4 million. The third debut of the weekend, Ketchup Entertainment’s The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie claimed fifth place with $3.2 million earned over the course of the last three days.
The fourth, and final, debut of the weekend landed in sixth place as The Last Supper took in $2.82 million. This proved to be just enough to edge out Sony Pictures Releasing’s Paddington in Peru which brought in $2.8 million in its fifth weekend of release, giving the film an overall total of $41.3 million, despite the film dropping two spots in this weekend’s top ten. Also falling two spots this weekend was Dog Man which made $2.5 million in its seventh weekend of release for DreamWorks Distribution, giving the film a seven-week total of $92.8 million. Unfortunately, all of this activity caused Neon’s The Monkey to fall five spots to land in ninth place where it added $2.4 million over its fourth weekend in release to bring the Neon product’s overall total to $35.2 million. Similarly, Focus Features saw Last Breath bring in only $2.3 million in its third week of release as the film plummeted to tenth place this weekend after claiming third place just seven days earlier. This gives the film a three-week total of $18.6 million.
Again, four films were forced from the weekend box-office top ten over the last three days as the films that finished in seventh- through tenth-place last weekend all failed to make it into this weekend’s top ten. After twenty-two weeks in release, last weekend’s seventh-place film Anora has taken in $19.9 million for Neon, but couldn’t retain a spot in this weekend’s list. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has seen a thirteen-week tally of $252.4 million for Mufasa: The Lion King, despite it too dropping from this weekend’s list. With $2.6 million brought in over two weeks in release, Angel Studios’ Rule Breakers takes a bow then departs the top ten. Finally, Viva Pictures saw its Night of the Zoopocalypse amass a total of $1.9 million over the last two weeks before falling out of the top ten.
