Box-Office Weekend: Red One Stops Venom

After three weeks atop the box-office weekend, Venom: The Last Dance was dethroned by Red One by a margin of $26.6 million.

In its first weekend of wide release, Red One brought in $34.0 million and took control of the box-office weekend, finishing in first place well ahead of any competition. After claiming the top spot the last three weekends, Sony Pictures Releasing’s Venom: The Last Dance dropped to second place where it brought in $7.4 million over the last three days. Still, the film’s four-week total is a robust $127.6 million. Meanwhile, Lionsgate saw The Best Christmas Pageant Ever fall to third place where it took in $5.4 million, bringing its two-week total to $20.1 million for the studio. Heretic also fell a spot to claim fourth place with $5.2 million, giving the A24 release a two-week tally of $20.4 million. Universal Pictures saw The Wild Robot drop from fourth to fifth-place this weekend as it added $4.3 million, bringing its eight-week total to $137.8 million.

In its fifth week of release, Smile 2 dropped from fifth to sixth place, where it added $3.1 million, bring its overall total to $65.7 million for Paramount Pictures. Focus Features saw Conclave bring in $2.9 million is its fourth weekend of release as it fell one spot to seventh place while lifting its overall total to $26.6 million. The second debut of the weekend, Hello, Love, Again landed in eighth place with $2.33 million taken in over the weekend, which was just enough to edge out Searchlight Pictures’ A Real Pain which cracked the top ten with $2.3 million this weekend in its third week of release – giving the film an overall total of $3.0 million. Finally, Neon saw Anora drop from the seventh to the tenth spot this weekend where it brought in $1.8 million for the studio, raising its five-week total to $10.5 million.

Again, three films fell from this week’s top ten as last weekend’s eighth-, ninth-, and tenth-place films were all pushed out of this weekend’s list. After three weeks in release, the Sony Pictures Releasing product Here takes a bow after bringing in $11.6 million for the studio. Meanwhile, A24’s We Live in Time took in a total of $23.9 million for the studio over the last six weeks. Finally, after five weeks in release, Terrifier 3 managed to make $54.1 million.
