Box Office Weekend: The Hitman’s Bodyguard Again Dominates Box Office

For the third straight week, The Hitman’s Bodyguard has beaten out Annabelle: Creation for the top spot for the box office weekend. This week, the Ryan Reynolds/Samuel L. Jackson actioner brought in $10.3 million compared to Annabelle’s $7.3 million. While, Annabelle: Creation still holds bragging rights for highest 2017 gross: $89 million compared to $54.9 The Hitman’s Bodyguard Postermillion for The Hitman’s Bodyguard), the holiday box office will certainly influence these numbers and it remains to be seen if Annabelle will have the legs to stick around (though it’s four-week performance suggests that it may).

Writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama, Wind River, finished in third-place with $5.9 million (bringing its five-week total to $18.3 million). The animated adventure, Leap!, continued a decent two-week stint with $4.9 million, landing it in fourth place. Logan Lucky brought in an additional $4.4 million this week to raise its three-week total to $21.5 million for the comeback film from Steven Soderbergh. In its seventh week of release, the Christopher Nolan epic, Dunkirk, has now earned a total of $178.8 million (including $4.1 million this weekend).

Spider-Man: Homecoming continues its solid run, with $3.7 million this weekend which not only kept it in the Top 10 but brought its nine-week total to $324.1 million. The Emoji Movie, has somehow managed to bring in $80.3 million over its six-week run and remained in the Top 10 for at least another week with $2.5 million. Despicable Me 3 re-entered the Top 10 this week earning $2.4 million which was enough to finish in ninth place as well as bring its ten-week total to $257.9 million. Finally, Girls Trip took in $2.3 million, finishing in the final spot of this week’s top ten. That total brought its seven-week accumulation to $111.6 million.
