Box-Office Weekend: Weapons #1 for Two Weeks

The first two films on the box-office weekend top ten maintained the status quo from last weekend as Weapons held onto first place by $10.5 million over second-place repeater Freakier Friday.

"Weapons" posterIn its second weekend of release, the Warner Bros. release Weapons again finished in first place with $25.0 million, bringing the film’s overall total to $89.0 million. Meanwhile, Freakier Friday stood firm in second place where it made another $14.5 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, bringing the film’s two-week total to $54.8 million. In third place, Universal Pictures International saw the release of the sequel Nobody 2 garner $9.3 million for the studio. That debut pushed The Fantastic Four: First Steps to fourth place where it made $8.8 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, raising the film’s four-week total to $247.0 million. Also falling a spot was the Universal Pictures release The Bad Guys 2, which dropped to fifth place over the weekend as it brought in $7.5 million to raise its three-week total to $57.2 million.

The sixth spot of this weekend’s top ten belonged to the only film to retain its spot from last weekend other than the top two films on this weekend’s list as Superman remained in sixth place bringing in $5.3 million for Warner Bros., and raising the film’s six-week total to $340.9 million. Falling two spots to claim seventh place this weekend was The Naked Gun which took in $4.8 million for Paramount Pictures International. The comedy reboot now sports a three-week total of $41.9 million. Dropping one spot from last weekend, Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Rebirth claimed eighth place with $2.9 million this weekend, bringing the film’s seven-week total to $332.1 million. After finishing in eighth place seven days ago, the Warner Bros. release F1: The Movie took over ninth place with $2.7 million earned this weekend, bringing the film’s eight-week total to $182.8 million. Finally, Prathyangira Cinemas saw its release of Coolie lay claim to tenth place with $2.5 million.

Only two films were forced from the top ten this box-office weekend as both the ninth- and tenth-place films from last weekend failed to make this weekend’s list. After three weeks in release, Together brought in a total of $19.7 million for Neon before dropping out of this week’s top ten. Meanwhile, Angel saw Sketch fall out of the top ten after amassing a two-week total of $7.0 million.
