A new film took the top spot of the box-office weekend as "The Little Mermaid" debuted at number one, finishing $72.5 million ahead of the film in second place.

"Fast X" easily beat "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" to wrest the top spot of the box-office weekend by a difference of $35.5 million.

Although it may not play as a straight-forward horror film nor as a comedy, Renfield does deliver enough entertainment to be successful in both genres.
