Box-Office Weekend: VERITY Does Very Well

Once again, a new film stands atop the top ten of the box-office weekend as Verity debuted $20.1 million ahead of the second-place film.

“Verity” posterIn its first weekend of release, Verity took in $32.6 million for Amazon MGM Studios, which proved more than enough to push it to the top of the weekend box office. Meanwhile, Columbie Pictures saw its Resident Evil hold its ground in second place earning $12.5 million whilst raising its three-week total to $124.9 million. Also holding steady in its place from last week, Heart of the Beast remained comfortable in third place where it brought in $11.0 million for Paramount Pictures, giving the film a two-week total of $38.4 million. Primetime debuted in fourth place with a total just over $8.0 million earned for the A24 release. Fifth place saw the debut of the divisive Digger from Warner Bros. with $8.0 million.

Falling a spot from last weekend, DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island landed in sixth place this weekend with $7.2 million – giving the film a two-week total of $23.6 million. Last weekend’s top film, the 2026 re-release of Avengers: Endgame, plummeted all the way to seventh place where it took in $4.4 million to give the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures release a two-week tally of $36.2 million. Eighth place was claimed by the debut of Drishyam: The Conclusion with $2.7 million earned over the weekend. Falling three spots from last weekend, Practical Magic 2 took ninth place for Warner Bros. with $2.6 million in its fourth week in release, bringing the film’s overall total to $64.7 million. Finally, following a seventh-place finish a week ago, Spider-Man: Brand New Day fell three spots to land in tenth place where it added $2.5 million over the weekend to bring its ten-week total to $954.5 million for Sony Pictures Releasing.

Three films from last week fell from the box-office top ten this weekend. Following an eighth-place finish last weekend, The Odyssey dropped from the top ten after bringing in $620.5 million over the last twelve weeks for Universal Pictures. Meanwhile, Ketchup Entertainment’s Coyote vs. ACME departs the top ten with a six-week tally of $59.8 million. Finally, after three weeks in release, EKKL Entertainment’s
Daniel and the Fiery Furnace managed to bring in $7.6 million for the studio.
