Paul Thomas Anderson Returns to Focus Features for New Film

Writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson is set to partner with Focus Features on his, as of this writing, untitled new film which Anderson will also produce along with frequent collaborators JoAnne Sellar and Daniel Lupi. Anderson and Focus Features previously collaborated on the director’s feature Phantom Thread (2017), which earned six Academy Award® nominations, including Best Picture, Director for Anderson, Best Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis, Best Supporting Actress for Lesley Manville, Best Score for Jonny Greenwood, and Best Costume Design for Mark Bridges, which he went on to win.

“There is simply no other filmmaker like Paul Thomas Anderson,” said Focus chairman Peter Kujawski. “He is a true original who consistently mesmerizes fans with unparalleled vision and storytelling. We are beyond thrilled to be teaming up once again with Paul, JoAnne, and Daniel.”

Production is scheduled to begin sometime during Spring/Summer 2020 in California. Focus Features will distribute domestically, and Universal Pictures International will handle foreign distribution.
