Box-Office Weekend: It’s Just One of Them Days
For the third consecutive weekend, a new film has claimed the top spot of the box-office weekend as One of Them Days managed to take over first place by the slim margin of $0.1 million.
In its first weekend of release, One of Them Days made $11.6 million for Sony Pictures Releasing as the film claimed the top spot over the weekend, just prior to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Meanwhile, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures saw Mufasa: The Lion King get relegated to second place with $11.5 million in its five week of release. Still, the film claims an overall total of $205.8 million. Debuting in third place was the latest Universal Pictures horror reboot Wolf Man which took in $10.6 million. This pushed Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to fourth place where it added $8.6 million over the weekend, bringing the film’s five-week total to $216.5 million. The biggest drop this weekend was felt by Den of Thieves 2: Panetra which fell from first to fifth place where it added $6.6 million over the weekend to bring its two-week total to $26.2 million for Lionsgate.
In its eighth weekend of release, Moana 2 made $6.1 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures despite dropping a spot to land in sixth place where it now boasts an overall total of $442.8 million. Focus Features saw Nosferatu fall three spots to claim seventh place this weekend with $4.3 million, this brings the film’s four-week total to $89.4 million for the studio. Meanwhile, A Complete Unknown dropped a spot to land in eighth place with $3.8 million, giving the Searchlight Pictures product a four-week tally of $57.6 million. Falling three spots was Universal Pictures’ Wicked which took in $3.6 million, bringing its nine-week total to $464.5 million for the studio. Finally, A24 saw its Babygirl lose two spots and land in tenth place with $2.0 million this weekend. This brings the film’s four-week total to $25.4 million.
Two films dropped from the top ten this weekend as both of last weekend’s ninth- and tenth-place films failed to make this week’s list. After only one week in release, Game Changer left the top ten with only the $2.1 million it brought in last weekend. Finally, after six weeks in theaters, the Roadside Attractions release, The Last Showgirl took in a total of $3.1 million for the studio.
