Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures enjoyed a second week of The Devil Wears Prada 2 on top of the box-office weekend top ten as the film held off newcomer Mortal Kombat II by a margin of $3.0 million.

“THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2” posterFor a second consecutive weekend, The Devil Wears Prada 2 held the top spot of the box-office weekend top ten. This week, the film brought in $43.0 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, bringing the title’s two-week total to $144.8 million. Meanwhile, the Warner Bros. release, Mortal Kombat II debuted in second place with $40.0 million over the weekend. This debut pushed Lionsgate’s Michael to third place where it added $36.5 million in its third week of release to give it an overall total of $240.5 million. Fourth place belonged to the debut of the Amazon MGM Studios release The Sheep Detectives as the film brought in $15.9 million during its opening weekend. In fifth place, the Paramount Pictures International release Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour Live in 3D debuted with a $7.5 million opening weekend.

The three new films in this weekend’s top five, pushed The Super Mario Galaxy Movie down three spots to sixth place this week where it took in $6.6 million for Universal Pictures; although the film still boasts a six-week total of $412.1 million. Also falling three spots this weekend was Project Hail Mary which dropped to seventh place where it earned $6.1 million for Amazon MGM Studios, bringing the film’s eight-week tally to $327.8 million. Meanwhile, Neon saw its Hokum land in eighth place after claiming fifth a week ago. The film brought in $3.3 million over the weekend, giving it a two-week total of $12.5 million. Dropping one spot to land in ninth place, Magenta Light Studios’ Deep Water brought in $780,274 to give the film a two-week total of $3.7 million. Finally, after claiming sixth place last weekend, the Angel release Animal Farm dropped four spots to tenth place this weekend where it made $663,624 to lift the film’s two-week total to $5.0 million.

This weekend saw three films forced out of the top ten. After finishing in seventh place a week ago, Lee Cronin’s the Mummy fell from this weekend’s list boasting a four-week total of $28.7 million for Warner Brothers. Meanwhile, the Sony Pictures Releasing offering That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea could not sustain its ninth-place finish from last week and instead had to settle for two-week total of $1.3 million. Finally, after bringing in $47.7 million over the last six weeks for A24, The Drama fell from this weekend’s top ten after a tenth-place finish a week ago.
