Box-Office Weekend: That’s Two for SPIDER-MAN

Spider-Man: Brand New Day bested The Odyssey yet again to retain its hold on the number spot of the box-office weekend by a margin of $113.5 million.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” posterDuring its second weekend in release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day held onto the top spot of the box-office weekend by bringing in $145.0 million for Sony Pictures Releasing. This brings the film’s two-week tally to $655.1 million. Meanwhile, Universal Pictures saw The Odyssey remain in second place where it added $31.5 million over the weekend to bring the film’s four-week total to $461.2 million. Third place saw the second Universal Pictures product in this week’s top ten, One Night Only, debut with $5.7 million over the weekend. In fourth place, Searchlight Pictures enjoyed a $4.0 million opening for Super Troopers 3. These two debuts pushed Toy Story 5 from third place to fifth place this weekend, where the film brought in $3.9 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, raising the film’s eight-week total to $470.4 million.

Falling two spots, Minions & Monsters landed in sixth place this weekend, where it made $3.5 million for Universal Pictures, bringing the film’s six-week total to $176.4 million. Also dropping a couple of spots, Moana claimed seventh place for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures with $2.8 million taken in over the course of the film’s fifth weekend in release; bringing the film’s overall total to $121.4 million. Iconic Events Releasing enjoyed a $2.0 million eighth-place debut for Ice Cream Man. Meanwhile, A24 saw The Invite drop from seventh to ninth place this weekend where the film took in just over $717,000 for the studio, bringing the film’s seven-week total to $24.3 million. Finally, Oscilloscope saw its CatVideoFest 2026 claim tenth place with slightly over $568,000 brought in over the weekend.

A total of four films fell out of the weekend box-office top ten this week. Firstly, after three weeks in release, Bleecker Street Media’s Hadestown: The Musical managed to bring in a total of $20.2 million before relegating sixth place last week and dropping off of the this week’s list. Meanwhile, last weekend’s eighth- through tenth-place films also fell from this weekend’s list. After bringing in $1.3 million over its two weeks in release, I Want Your Sex couldn’t maintain a hold on the top ten for Magnolia Pictures. Sporting a four-week total of $31.5 million for Warner Bros., couldn’t prevent Evil Dead Burn from failing to make this weekend’s top ten either after a ninth-place finish a week ago. Finally, following a six-week run that brought in $46.9 million for Angel, Young Washington also fell from this weekend’s top ten.
