Box-Office Weekend: “Black Adam” Three-Peats


For the third consecutive weekend, Black Adam held on tightly to the top spot of the box-office weekend. This weekend, the Dwayne Johnson film beat its nearest competition by only $9.0 million, which is around half of what it bested the second-place film by last weekend.

"Black Adam" posterIn its third weekend of release, Black Adam brought in $18.5 million to lift its overall total to $137.4 million. Meanwhile, debuting in second place with $9.5 million over the weekend was One Piece Film: Red. This dropped last weekend’s second-place film, Ticket to Paradise to third place with $8.5 million. The George Clooney/Julia Roberts vehicle now sports a three-week total of $46.7 million. Holding firm in fourth place was the horror film Smile which added $4.0 million over the weekend to lift its six-week total to $99.1 million. Falling two spots to land in fifth place this weekend was the second horror film on the top ten, Prey for the Devil, which managed $3.9 million during its second weekend of release, lifting its overall total to $13.6 million.

Holding ground in sixth-place was Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which added $3.4 million over the weekend to bring its five-week total to $36.6 million. Making its debut in the top ten, in its third week of release, was The Banshees of Inisherin with $2.0 million. This gives the film a grand total of $3.0 million. Falling a spot to finish in eighth-place was Till with $1.9 million over the weekend. This brings the film’s overall four-week total to $6.6 million. Meanwhile, after finishing in fifth place last weekend, Halloween Ends plummeted to a ninth-place finish with $1.4 this weekend. This gives the horror sequel a four-week total of $63.4 million. Finally, Terrifier 2 laid claim to the tenth spot of the weekend with $1.2 million, falling from eighth last weekend. The film now has a five-week total of $9.9 million.

Only two films were pushed from the box-office weekend top ten over the the last three days, as last weekend’s ninth- and tenth-place finishers were both displaced. The Woman King abdicated her ninth-place finish and left the top ten with a four-week total of $63.4 million. Meanwhile, Tár drops from the top ten after bringing in $3.7 million in its first five weeks in release.
