Box-Office Weekend: Demon Slayer Defeats Him

For the second consecutive weekend, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle held the top spot of the box-office weekend top ten.

"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle" posterAlthough it only retained first place by a $3.8 million margin – a far cry from the $43.9 million difference a week ago – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle did, in fact, finish in first place with $17.3 million. This gives the Sony Pictures product a two-week total of $104.7 million. Meanwhile, Universal Pictures International saw Him debut in second place with $13.5 million. Last weekend’s second-place film, The Conjuring: Last Rites was dropped to third place where it took in $12.9 million to bring the Warner Bros. film’s three-week total to $151.2 million. Focus Features saw its Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale fall from third to fourth where it brought in $6.3 million to raise its two-week total to $31.6 million for the studio. Lionsgate saw The Long Walk drop only one spot this weekend as it landed in fifth place with $6.3 million, giving it a two-week total of $22.7 million.

Sony Pictures Releasing saw its A Big Bold Beautiful Journey claim sixth place in its debut as it took in $3.5 million for the studio. In seventh place, The Senior debuted with $2.8 million taken in for Angel. Falling three spots to land in eighth place this weekend, the 2025 re-release of Toy Story added $1.40 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures to bring its two-week total to $5.9 million. In ninth place, Sight & Sound Presents: NOAH Live debuted with $1.38 million over the weekend, giving the film a cumulative total of $1.6 million. Finaly, after seven weeks in release, Warner Bros. saw Weapons drop four spots to claim tenth place this weekend with $1.3 million, giving the film an overall total of $149.7 million.

This weekend saw four films fall from the top ten. After three weeks in theaters, the 2025 re-release of Hamilton by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures brought in a total of $16.5 million before failing to repeat its seventh-place finish from last weekend. Similarly, the same studio’s offering of Freakier Friday took in a total of $92.9 million over seven weeks before being pushed out of the top ten. After debuting in ninth place last weekend, Bleecker Street Media’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues could not crack the top ten again this weekend and had to settle for a two-week total of $2.5 million. Finally, the Fathom Event release honoring the sixtieth anniversary of The Sound of Music managed to earn a total of $1.6 million.
