After two weeks out of the top spot, Michael retook the number slot of the box-office weekend by an $8.1 million margin.

"Michael" posterLionsgate saw Michael bring in $26.1 million over the weekend, allowing it to climb two spots from last week and take over the top spot of this weekend’s top ten. The film now claims a four-week total of $282.8 million. Meanwhile, Walt Disney Studios Motions Pictures’ The Devil Wears Prada 2 was dropped to second place where it made $18.0 million for the studio, bringing its three-week total to $175.9 million. Third place saw the debut of the Focus Features release Obsession with $16.1 million. After a second-place finish last weekend, Mortal Kombat II landed in fourth place this week where it brought in $13.4 million for Warner Bros., giving the film a two-week total of $62.2 million. Amazon MGM Studios saw its release The Sheep Detectives claim fifth place with $9.3 million over the weekend, bringing the film’s two-week total to $29.7 million.

Holding its ground in sixth place, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie took in $4.5 million for Universal Pictures, bringing the film’s seven-week total to $418.6 million. Also repeating in its spot from last weekend, Project Hail Mary made $3.9 million for Amazon MGM Studios, remaining in seventh place and bringing the film’s nine-week total to $334.9 million. Eighth place was claimed by the re-release of the fortieth anniversary of Top Gun/Top Gun: Maverick with $3.1 million brought in over the last three days, giving the film an overall total of $4.8 million. Meanwhile, ninth place belonged to In the Grey which made $3.0 million for Black Bear during its first weekend in release. Finally, Amazon MGM Studios enjoyed a tenth-place debut for Is God Is of $2.2 million.

Four films were forced from this weekend’s top ten. After two weeks in release, Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour Live in 3D fell from this weekend’s list sporting a two-week total of $9.3 million for Paramount Pictures. After an eighth-place finish last weekend, Neon’s Hokum dropped out of the top ten with a three-week total of $15.4 million. Meanwhile, Magenta Light Studios’ Deep Water brought in a total of $4.2 million for the studio over the last three weeks, but couldn’t repeat its ninth-place finish seven days ago. Finally, last weekend’s tenth-place film, Angel’s Animal Farm took in a total of $5.4 million during its three weeks in release.
