Box-Office Weekend: Bullet Train Holds On


For the second week in a row, Bullet Train held onto the number one spot of the box-office weekend, besting the second-place film by $6.2 million this weekend.

"Bullet Train" posterThe Brad Pitt vehicle once again led the box-office weekend as Bullet Train brought in $13.4 million in its second weekend of release. This gives the action/comedy/thriller a total of $54.5 million. Again, this relegated DC League of Super-Pets to a second-place finish as the film brought in $7.2 million in its third weekend, lifting its total to $58.3 million. Meanwhile, Top Gun: Maverick managed to climb its way to third place after a sixth-place finish last weekend as it finished almost tied with the Super-Pets with $7.15 million. This gives the Tom Cruise vehicle a twelve-week total of $673.8 million, as well as the seventh highest lifetime gross, inching it closer to overtaking Avengers: Infinity War. Holding steady in fourth place was Thor: Love and Thunder with $5.31 million over the weekend. This gives the Marvel film a six-week total of $325.4 million. Closing out the top five was last weekend’s third-place film, Nope which finished just behind Thor: Love and Thunder with $5.30 million. This lifts the horror film’s four-week total to $107.5 million.

Minions: The Rise of Gru dropped out of the top five to finish in sixth place with $4.9 million over the weekend. The animated sequel now has a seven-week grand total of $343.7 million. Holding its ground in the seventh spot was Where the Crawdads Sing, which added $4.0 million over the weekend. The critical hit now sports a five-week total of $72.1 million. Debuting in the top ten in its second week of release was Bodies Bodies Bodies with $3.3 million. The comedy/horror/thriller now has a two-week total of $3.6 million. In its eighth week in release, the biopic Elvis held steady in the ninth spot with $2.6 million, raising its grand total to $141.3 million. Finally, the lone debut of the weekend to make the top ten, Fall finished in the tenth spot with $2.5 million in its first weekend in release.

Two films were thrust from the weekend box-office top ten over the last three days as Easter Sunday was dispatched after finishing in the eighth spot last weekend. The film now sports a two-week total of $10.0 million. Concurrently, last weekend’s final finisher, The Black Phone, departs the top ten after amassing an eight-week total of $87.7 million.
