Box-Office Weekend: Dungeons & Dragons is #1

There is a new film atop the box-office weekend as Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves managed to edge out last weekend’s top film, John Wick: Chapter 4 by $10.3 million.

"Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" posterWith $38.5 million to show for its opening weekend, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves wrestled control of the box-office weekend away from John Wick: Chapter 4 as that film brought in $28.2 million over its second weekend of release. Still, this gives Mr. Wick a two-week total of $122.9 million. Debuting in third place was the holiday appropriate His Only Son which brought in $5.5 million in its first weekend of release. Meanwhile, holding steady in fourth place was Scream VI as it added $5.3 million over the weekend to raise its four-week total to $98.2 million. This activity pushed last weekend’s second-place film, Creed III to fifth place with $5.0 million. The film still boasts a five-week total of $148.6 million.

Dropping from third place to sixth was the latest DC disappointment, Shazam: Fury of the Gods which brought in $4.6 million over the weekend to raise its three-week tally to $53.5 million. Meanwhile, debuting in seventh-place over the weekend with $1.8 million was A Thousand and One. After finishing in fifth place last weekend, 65 took in $1.6 million this weekend and was relegated to an eighth-place finish. The film now lays claim to a four-week total of $30.6 million. Falling three spots to land in ninth place over the weekend was Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania with $1.2 million. The film now lays claim to a seven-week tally of $212 million. Finally, Jesus Revolution stuck around in the top ten by claiming tenth-place with $1.0 million over the weekend. This gives the film a six-week total of $50.9 million.

Three films were thrown from the top ten this weekend as Cocaine Bear, Champions, and Avatar: The Way of Water were all pushed out. After finishing in seventh-place last weekend, Cocaine Bear departs the top ten with a six-week total of $63.8 million.
