For the third week in a row, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie held the top spot of the box-office weekend top ten. This weekend, it held off its closest competition by a margin of $14.5 million.

“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” posterIn its third week of release, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie made $35.0 million for Universal Pictures, bringing the film’s overall total to $355.2 million. Meanwhile, Amazon MGM Studios saw it Project Hail Mary hold steady in second place where it added $20.5 million over the weekend, giving the film a five-week total of $285.1 million. The first debut of the weekend, Lee Cronin’s the Mummy claimed third place with $13.5 million taken in by the Warner Bros. release over the last three days. Falling a spot to fourth place, A24’s The Drama brought in $4.8 million for the studio, giving the film a three-week total of $29.7 million. Also dropping a spot to land in fifth place over the weekend was the Universal Pictures release You, Me & Tuscany which added $3.8 million to bring its two-week total to $14.4 million.

After finishing in fifth place last weekend, Hoppers could only muster $2.9 million this weekend and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures had to settle for a sixth-place finish for the film in its seventh week of release – although the film does now claim an overall total of $161.2 million. Magnolia Pictures saw its Normal debut in seventh place with $2.7 million earned over the weekend. Following a sixth-place finish a week ago, Trafalgar Releasing’s BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ in GOYANG: LIVE VIEWING was replaced in this weekend’s top ten by the studio’s BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ in JAPAN: LIVE VIEWING which claimed eighth place with $1.8 million over the weekend. Meanwhile, Mind Blowing Films enjoyed a $1.7 million debut in ninth place for its release of Busboys. Lastly, Bhooth Bangla claimed the final spot of the box-office weekend top ten with $1.0 million taken in over the weekend.

As the box-office weekend came to a close, the final four films in last weekend’s top ten all dropped from this weekend’s list. Following a seventh-place finish a week ago, Faces of Death drops from the top ten with a two-week total of $2.4 million taken in for IFC Films. In its second week of release, Neon’s Exit 8 managed to bring its two-week total to $2.8 million before falling out of the top ten. After three weeks in release, the Roadside Attractions release A Great Awakening managed to earn $6.6 million for the studio before departing the top ten this weekend. Finally, sporting a six-week total of $48.2 million, the Universal Pictures release, Reminders of Him couldn’t repeat its tenth-place finish from a week ago and instead dropped from the top ten altogether.

He currently lives in the Detroit area with his wife and their dogs.
