Box-Office Weekend: Uncharted Holds Top Spot


Two films debuted in the box-office weekend top ten, but the Tom Holland-led Uncharted held onto the number one spot by besting the second-place film by $13.2 million.

Uncharted posterAgain, finishing atop the box-office weekend, Uncharted pulled in $23.3 million in its second week of release. This gives the film a total of $83.4 million to show for its first two weeks in theaters. Also holding steady in its spot from last weekend was Dog starring Channing Tatum. The film added $10.1 million to boost its two-week total to $30.9 million. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home clung onto third place with $5.8 million over the weekend. This boosted the film’s grand total to $779.9 million over the last eleven weeks. The film now inches closer to the second highest grossing domestic film of all time, Avengers: Endgame ($858.4 million). Death on the Nile held its ground in fourth place with $4.5 million, lifting its three-week total to $32.8 million. Similarly, Jackass Forever remained in fifth place with $3.2 million in its fourth week of release, giving it a total of $52.1 million over that time.

Last weekend’s seventh-place film, Sing 2, climbed a spot this weekend to finish in sixth place with $2.1 million. This gives the animated film a ten-week total of $151.2 million. The film it flip-flopped with, Marry Me finished in seventh with $1.9 million over the weekend, raising its three-week total to $20.2 million. Debuting in eighth place was the rock/horror/comedy Studio 666 starring the Foo Fighters, which brought in $1.6 million in its first week of release. Also debuting in the top ten, was the Peter Dinklage starring Cyrano, which took in $1.4 million over while debuting in this weekend’s ninth spot. Finally, last weekend’s eighth-place finisher, Scream dropped to the tenth spot over the weekend with $1.3 million. The film now lays claim to a seven-week total of $79.2 million.

The weekend also saw two films forced from the box-office weekend top ten. Last week’s ninth- and tenth-place films (Blacklight and The Cursed [Eight for Silver]) were both pushed from the top ten this week. Blacklight leaves with a three-week total of $8.7 million while The Cursed (Eight for Silver) sports a two-week tally of $3.6 million.
