"Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" posterIn its first weekend of release, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire took in $45.2 million for Sony Pictures Releasing. This was more than enough to best second-place finisher Dune: Part Two which held its ground in second place with $17.6 million, giving the film a four-week total of $233.4 million for Warner Brothers. Meanwhile, the top film last weekend, Kung Fu Panda 4, was pushed down to third place where it took in $16.8 million, bringing its three-week tally to $133.2 million for Universal Pictures. The horror film Immaculate debuted in fourth place bringing in $5.4 million over the weekend. Despite falling two spots from last weekend to finish in fifth place this week, Arthur the King still brought in $4.4 million for Lionsgate Films to bring its two-week total to $14.6 million.

The third, and final, debut in this weekend’s top ten, Late Night with the Devil landed in sixth place where it brought in $2.83 million for IFC Films. This proved just enough to best Imaginary which fell three spots to land in seventh this weekend with $2.8 million. This gives the offering from Lionsgate Films a three-week total of $23.6 million. Dropping two spots landed Love Lies Bleeding in eighth place where it added $1.6 million for A24, lifting its three-week total to $5.7 million. Last weekend’s fifth-place film, Cabrini, dropped four spots this weekend to finish in ninth place with $1.4 million. Finally, after finishing in seventh place last weekend, Bob Marley: One Love landed in the tenth spot this weekend where it added $1.1 million, giving the Paramount Pictures product a six-week total of $95.3 million.

Three films were forced out of the box-office weekend top ten over the last three days as last weekend’s eight-, ninth-, and tenth-place films all failed to make this weekend’s list. Bleecker Street Media’s One Life dropped from the top ten after bringing in $3.5 million for the studio. Meanwhile, after only two weeks, The American Society of Magical Negroes departs the top ten leaving Focus Features $2.2 million richer.
